[PEDA] importing stock number into sch librairy

the method i use works equally well with either version,
since it is rather brute force
i simply (!) have a unique sch symbol for each part in the MRP data
base, the primary field ('part value' in 99SE or 'comment' in AD6)
holds the stock room number
then you just output a very simple BOM report containing only
PN (stock room or internal number)
QUANPER quan per assembly
REFDES list of reference designators
could be a CSV file or whatever
PN,QUANPER,REFDES
PN,QUANPER,REFDES
PN,QUANPER,REFDES
i imagine most databases should be able to load or import such a file,
mine (pcMRP) does this quite easily and is very cheap (albeit creaky -
see ** footnote)
to make the schematic useful and readable one field is setup in the
library part with some thing like '10K' or LM2222 or whatever
AD6 handles this much better than 99SE, but it can be done there too
with a little more work to copy the field from the read only lib field
to the part field #n
whether you want to go to the effort of putting detailed model numbers
(aka full buyable mfg part numbers) into schematic fields is an open
question in my as the MRP database will hold all that and so it is a bit
of duplication of effort

pcMRP
is a very old (and very much alive) program
this has both up sides and down sides
the upside is the accumulation of 20 years of user input for specific
tasks, the down side is the user interface is pretty old and there is a
lot of repetitive typing required
they update fix stuff constantly and the MRP really works if you have
the manpower to input all the data
